Waiting in Galilee
I’ve watched you
As the strength slowly leaves
As the circumstances around you
And in you
Seem to drain every glimmer
Of hope away
Seldom do they seem better
And when they do
Your hope is a far off
Fading glow
Afraid to trust
Afraid to hope
But none the less trying
To believe in a thinking level
That He is there
With you through it all
Down deep
In your hurting heart
The spark
The glimmer
Will never die
It lies hidden at times
From touch
From sight
From senses of connection
But He is there
Asking you to wait in Galilee
Peter denied Him
Even though He said
He would never
Yet Jesus told Mary
To tell him to go
To Galilee and wait
We are told many times
To wait
To be strong
To have courage
Waiting is the easy one
If looked at closely
Strength drains
Courage falters
Yet our soul cries out
In silent waiting
Isaiah waited
In his Galilee
While His face was hidden
Job’s Galilee was dust
And aloneness
Having lost everything
And everyone
Important to him
He waited
Many have been sent
To wait at Galilee
Sometimes a lonely place
The emerald sea
The only movement seen
Back and forth
The tide flows
Sometimes it’s a mountaintop
Overlooking the sea
But mostly it’s the sand
The rocks
That the tide
Beats against
That is our Galilee
Yet find us He will
As we wait
He will come
His timing is not ours
But His love is
And His promises to
Never leave or forsake us
While we wait
At Galilee
To see Him walking
Across the water
As the storms
We bear become calm
He reaches out His arms
And welcomes us in
Does our waiting end?
Yes for somethings it does
As our hearts soak up
The love the man from Galilee
Has for each of us
Looking up the name
I am surprised to find
It means waiting room
As of a church
This is our Galilee
And He will come
He provided the place
In our hearts
To wait
The storm will end
The way will clear
But only when He arrives
To meet us by the shore
